David was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. A graduate of the prestigious National Institute of the Arts, David’s experience into the realm of filmmaking blossomed under the tutelage of one of his professors - Mr. Edward Yang (winner of the Best Director Award at the Cannes International Film Festival in the year 2000).
During his collegiate years, he served as assistant director for one of Edward Yang’s masterpieces, “A Brighter Summer Day” and later “A Confucian Confusion”; both films were internationally and critically acclaimed.
During the early to mid 90’s, David was one of the integral writer / directors for a highly popular live comedy show called “We Are Family.” His experience served him well as this led to opportunities directing television programming and made for television movies - most notably; “True Image” and “Apartment 209”.
At the turn of the century, David Wang found new opportunities in the arena of commercial production. Beginning as a producer, he steadily gravitated towards directing and hasn’t stopped since. He is one of the more prolific directors in Taiwan, averaging 45 films per year.
David is a friendly guy, with a generous demeanor. He is extremely gifted and skilled in communication and that has been his most formidable strength as a director.
